Tonight at 6 (Friday, Dec. 14) and Sunday (Dec. 16) at 1 p.m., Mrs. LaBonte and her Drama Class are doing rendition of “Romeo And Juliet,” which has been updated to take place during the 1980s, Before both the shows they will be serving food. Tickets are $10.

A martial artist named Christopher Smith has choreographed the fight scenes. Most of the play is going to take place in the audience. There will be 21 cast members who will play the roles of the characters and 10 backstage helpers. In the play, the Montagues will be wearing leather with blue, and the Capulets will be wearing lace with red.

The story of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” is about two lovers who are on opposing sides, the Montagues and the Capulets, that can’t really love each other because of their respective families have a feud with one another in Verona. As the original story is established, these two lovers are forbidden to be close but with their families having a bitter taste to one side or the other it resulted a terrible tragedy for both parties.

When asked what Mrs. LaBonte thinks of the plays, she responded, “I think the play is going to be one of the best plays I’ve ever produced because there will be death, passion, love, tragedy, and regret… all the things that makes us human.”

Cast member Angie Tirado said, “I think is going to be a great play; it’s dope!”
