Class President Candidate Profile: Najd Al-Shammary

Hi my name is Najd Al-Shammary and I’m 17 years old. This is my fourth year at Wilby High School and after graduation I plan to go to college and persue a nursing career. You can reach me by email at [email protected]

If elected,  I plan to start small.  I want everyone to be involved and have a say. I want us to design our own senior shirts and to be able to vote on things like class trips.

What makes me the most qualified candidate is that I love this school. The students here have so much untapped potential but we don’t work to our fullest capabilities; I want us to be the best we can be.

A lot of people want to be class president just for the title or cause it looks good for colleges, but me? I want to help change the school’s immediate concerns.

One of the most pressing issues facing our school is that students are not informed enough. A bunch of us miss out on opportunities because it isn’t advertised properly. In fact, not many students even knew about the student council, we assumed we just didn’t have one. Another issue is that there’s not enough school spirit, fundraising, and school activities at Wilby.

Growing up, I was always so shy and held back. I use to overthink everything and cared way too much about what people think. I used to feel so obligated to be so much more and didn’t believe in myself.  I don’t want any of you to feel like that, so if anyone has any input or anything you want to do this year, don’t be scared to approach me with any concerns.

Everyone should have an equal say and feel free to speak their minds. My voice is your voice. I’m here to make everyone’s year better, not just mine.
