The Wilby Wildcats football team will play on Thanksgiving Day for the first time since 2005-06.

The game was moved this week, according to Coach Lamar Kennedy. The Wildcats will play at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28.

“Hopefully, this new date and time will afford you an opportunity to see our seniors play one last time as they try to win back the Grenado Bowl from Sacred Heart,” he said in an email to staff.

The Wildcats, 3-6, rattled off three consecutive wins for the first time in several years this season with victories over Kennedy High School, Crosby and Derby. Wilby should be favored against Sacred Heart, which comes into Thursday’s game with a record of 1-8. The Hearts’ only victory came against Kennedy High School.

Coach Kennedy said the game will served as “Senior Day.” Seniors will be honored at 9:30 a.m. Come out and support our Wildcats!
